I would like to describe my experiences while partnering with Joleen Young in my conquest to find an affordable and accessible home.
While searching the countless listings on several real estate web sites, I came across a picture of a familiar individual that I once knew while attending the University of Hawaii-West O’ahu campus. It turned out that Joleen was a representative for West O’ahu Realty and qualified to assist me in finding a home. I quickly contacted her and immediately confirmed an appointment to meet with her and her husband Tony Dias. By the way, Tony is a very competent and friendly loan officer.
During our meeting, I found out that Joleen is an expert in her field. She is very knowledgeable, meticulous and is understanding of my individual needs. She carefully explained the process of buying a home and simplified the entire matter. During our search for the conceptualized “perfect home”, there were many phone calls, voicemails and emails. We looked at several homes, entered a “lottery”, and waited patiently.
After several months, the ideal property became available. I quickly made an offer, opened escrow and closed soon after.

Jolen & I met “on-line” while I was researching available condos on Oahu. Right away, Joleen immediately starting going above and beyond my expectations, especially since I live on the Mainland and could have been perceived as just a “looky-lu”. She treated me as a serious buyer. She always got me the information I requested quickly; she took many trips to properties to provide me with photos; she routinely followed up through emails and by telephone; she researched comparative local financing vs. my lender. Joleen arranged her schedule to fit my trips to Oahu without hesitation. She arranged for property viewings, inspections, and even a meeting with a vacation property manager so I could get a complete picture prior to purchase. Being from the Leeward side where I was shopping, Joleen’s “tours” and informative commentary of the area helped me develop a connection to the neighborhood. Although the 1st property I made an offer on didn’t work out, and the process lasted about 5 months, Joleen hung in there and continued with 100% effort to help me find the right opportunity. Joleen worked closely with Old Republic, my inspector, the seller’s realtor, the repairman, and the tenants of my new condo throughout in an expert “project manager” capacity. As it turned out, I ended up with what I feel is an even better property, at a fair price, and with all parts of the transaction completed correctly and smoothly.
